The Comprehensive Building Studio project offers an intervention with a strong urban frontage, elevation and contextual variety, and proximity to urban infrastructure whose elements act as natural hosts to the assigned program, a new museum and archive for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).
Vivarium, seeks to offer an above ground expression of below ground activity by exposing activity typically hidden below ground. Travelling via public transportation across the city is not only an exploration of different neighbourhoods and landscapes, but an experience of the intense relationship between the above and below ground. The archival exhibit of this museum is shaped by the active transportation hub that is the Eglinton TTC station.
